Production of statues, statuettes, busts: To order

We make sculptures, statuettes or busts to order. We use 3D modeling, 3D printing, silicone for production and then we cast sculptures from various materials according to customer requirements.

Sculpture / bust production process

Step-by-step production process.

Pattern for the production of sculpture / bust

Based on photos or images, we are able to create a very accurate copy using 3D modeling . It is ideal to have photos of the object on all 4 sides, but we only need the front and back side.

3D sculpture / bust modeling

A 3D model is a virtual model created using modeling software . The modeler makes the whole model on a computer and then sends us a file in a suitable format for 3D printing (usually .stl or .obj).

3D sculpture / bust printing

Using a 3D printer, we then print the model from plastic . This model serves as a pattern for the decal into the mold and replaces the otherwise commonly used clay model that would otherwise be created by a sculptor.

Production of silicone molds

Based on 3D printing, we will make a silicone mold . Apply the silicone to the printed model and then remove it from the model. Thanks to this, a hollow silicone mold for casting is created.

Casting sculptures / busts

We are able to cast various materials into silicone . E.g. concrete, epoxy, gypsum or wax . We also add an acrylic hardener to the gypsum or we use a special gypsum that lasts outside and has the appearance of stone or marble .

Bronze casting

If we wanted to make a bronze statue, we would make a wax model at this stage and then continue to produce a special mold for casting bronze. More about the technology on the site: art foundry .

Finishing and finishing the surface

Once we have cast and the material is sufficiently mature (eg concrete or special waterproof gypsum needs to mature for up to 21 days), we remove it from the mold and then correct any minor errors.

Then we finalize the surface with waxes, stains, oil or special epoxy coatings for higher resistance.

What we need to make sculptures, busts

As soon as we agree on the order and pay the deposit, then we will need the maximum information and documents from you to create the model.

In particular, documents and information:

  1. Photos of the template for the model (the more details, the better)
  2. What material will you want for the statue / bust?
  3. Where will the statue / bust be located? What are the environmental requirements?
  4. What will you want the final surface of the sculpture / bust?
  5. What color statue / bust?
  6. How much rush to order?
  7. What is your production budget?
  8. Which size of statue / bust to choose?
  9. Do you arrange the transport yourself? Or will you want from us?

Here are our options:

  1. Just send us the photos by e-mail ( info@futlab.cc ).
  2. We offer: Concrete, epoxy, polyurethane, plaster, bronze, copper, brass.
  3. Outdoors or indoors. We choose surface protection accordingly.
  4. Smooth / coarse. Detailed or with visible manual processing structure.
  5. Various colours. Visual of stone, marble, various patina or real metal.
  6. If you are in a hurry, choose a less demanding method of production.
  7. It is good to tell us plainly how much you want to invest. This will clarify mutual expectations.
  8. It always depends on your options. The larger the product, the more expensive the price. At the moment, we can also offer you a maximum human life size.
  9. If so, just pick it up from us. If not, it always depends on the size and weight of the statue

What are the material options

We currently offer the following materials:

Concrete

Smaller cast from extra fine concrete

For smaller castings, we use a special fine, fast-setting concrete , which retains nice details and does not need a long setting time.

For larger things, we already use ordinary concrete / cement and various roxors, curry nets or reinforcing glass fibers.

Epoxy resin

Epoxy casting with white color

If you want a hard material that can have different colors or be transparent, then we offer casting in epoxy .

The epoxy can be painted in various colors. However, it is harder to process and we use it more for design elements in furniture.

Gypsum

It is not ordinary gypsum, but a special gypsum mixed with acrylate or a special gypsum with an admixture, which then resembles stone, marble or various non-ferrous metals can be imitated.

We also use a special plaster designed for the outside, which is waterproof .

Wax

Wax model - bust of Masaryk

We make models from wax , according to which a special durable mold is subsequently created and the wax is then melted away. The resulting mold is used to cast bronze or another metal.

Bronze

We cast in bronze , copper and brass. We offer various patinas and the natural appearance of metal. The metal is then treated with wax.

How long production takes

It depends on the size and material . Large life-size sculptures will last the longest and the most demanding to produce is bronze / copper or brass.

For a regular order, the processing time is around 1.5 - 2 months .

Price of sculpture / busty production

It always depends on the size, complexity of the object and the resulting material . We will tell you the specific price as soon as we know your requirements.
